Apple picking season in Colorado typically starts in mid-August and runs through mid-October, depending on weather conditions. We suggest you call the orchard before leaving to check on their availability and hours of operation.
Apple Picking in the Denver Area
Adams Apple Orchard (Ault)
Happy Apple Farm (Penrose)
Note from Happy Apple Farm: Unfortunately, we lost the Apple Crop to both a freeze in April and then a hailstorm in July. However, we will have a great Pumpkin Patch that will open for the 2023 Season on Saturday Sept. 16! Our days of operation will be Friday thru Sunday 9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. We will try to bring in Fresh Colorado Apples if possible!
Big B’s Fruit Orchard (Hotchkiss)
Big B’s crafts the highest quality juices and hard ciders inspired by the delicious fruit, the changing seasons, and the vibrant people of their growing community – families, farmers, friends, workers, and everyone who enjoys and shares their products. They welcome visitors to the orchard tolisten to some great music, have a meal at the orchard café, pick some fruit right from the trees, or spend the night in the campground. Check online for picking availability.
Nelms Farm (Golden)
Orchard Valley Farms (Paonia)
Ya Ya Farm and Orchard (Longmont)
Ya Ya Farm and Orchard is a U-Pick-It orchard in Boulder County. In addition to apple picking, they offer family fall activities including farm animals. Enjoy all things apple in the farm stand – apples, apple cider donuts, apple pies and oh so much more! We do not charge an admission fee. U-Pick requires prior reservations and is sold out generally by August. The quietest times here for a visit are weekdays in the afternoon times.
