Looking for a new tradition or a fun evening out to see some lights? Check out the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Trail of Lights or Blossoms of Light!

Trail of Lights

Chatfield Farms
8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road
Littleton, CO 80128

Our family has made the Trail of Lights one of our most beloved holiday traditions. Located at Chatfield Farms in Littleton this beautiful display allows you to walk the paths through the gardens and witness some truly spectacular displays. The trees are decorated with colorful LED lights and you can also find bold, bright tunnels to walk through. The scale of the trees with the lights is amazing and lovely in the snow. There are lights timed to music, model tractors and singing decorations as well. They even have a warming hut with holiday theme decor inside.

There are hot beverages and some snacks available for purchase and on certain days a Holiday Market is also open.

This is a great event for kids, we have been taking our daughter since before she could walk. There are lots of places for pictures and you can even stop by and see the chickens! The paths are stroller friendly, but you will want to pay attention to weather. If it snows or is muddy some areas can be more difficult to navigate. Be sure and wrap up as the entirety of the path is outdoors. The children’s play area also has some fun light displays and is always a fun place to stop and play.

You need to buy tickets in advance, and the event runs various days and times from November 24-January 1.

Blossoms of Light

Blossoms of Light takes place at the Botanic Gardens’ York Street location, in Denver. It offers stunning decorations and light displays all throughout the gardens. With timed lights and tunnels, this is a great place for the whole family. Giant orbs on the water and trees lined with colorful LED bulbs make for beautiful views. This event has been happening since the 1980’s and many families enjoy it each year. If you haven’t visited the Botanic Gardens in winter, this is the time! With light up deer sculptures and brightly lined paths kids will enjoy exploring and experiencing the holiday magic.

This is a stroller friendly event with paved sidewalks. Bring warm gear, and be prepared to walk on the one way path throughout the gardens.

Drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance. This event runs from November 17-January 7. Closed on Christmas.

Elizabeth Schnakenberg
Hi! I’m Elizabeth. I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and have been living in Colorado for almost 10 years. I met my husband in Denver and we have two wonderful daughters. My oldest is 6 and my youngest is 17 months. I am a former preschool teacher turned health insurance broker. I do my best to juggle kid activities, two kitties and our dog and everything in between. I love the outdoors and being close to the mountains. Our family is slowly checking visiting National Parks off our list and hoping to instill a love and respect for nature in our children. I enjoy reading, indulging in Italian food, spending time with friends and family and trying to improve my disc golf skills. I’m looking forward to connecting with more Colorado mamas!
