Things to Do in Avon and Beaver Creek

Avon Rec Center

If your little ones enjoy swimming, the Avon Rec Center is a great place to spend some time. They have a slide, lap pool and a designated kid splash/pool area. The lazy river was also a big hit for us. You can  enjoy a hot tub, diving board and even an aquaclimb climbing wall. The height requirement for the big slide is 48 inches, and children under 4 must have be within arms length of an adult in the pool. Slide and Water Feature, hours: M-F: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sat: 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Sun: Noon-7 p.m. Call to check as hours can change due to staffing.

Ski Beaver Creek

If you want to hit the slopes, Beaver Creek is a great place to ski or snowboard. Whether you are hoping to hone your skills or challenge yourself, there are runs for beginners and intermediate level skiers as well as many areas to dip in and out of the trees. No matter what your level, the views here won’t disappoint. Beaver Creek offers group and private lessons for skiing and snowboarding for both kids and adults.

Beaver Creek Village

Looking to get out and do some shopping or sample some tasty treats? Check out Beaver Creek Village. There are numerous restaurants and stores to peruse while sipping hot chocolate or eating some gelato. My kids loved the choices at Rimini, they also offer hot and cold beverages and crepes. There is even have an ice skating rink in the center of the village if you want to zip around for a fun winter activity. Bring your own skates or they have skates available for rent. Pricing ranges from $5-$15 depending on age. Tables and firepits are also scattered throughout if you want to sit back, relax and enjoy the mountain views.

Snowmobiling

If you enjoy snowmobiling and don’t mind a short drive, check out Sage Outdoor Adventures. Private and group tours are available, and it is an amazing way to see some backcountry views. Located about 30-45 minutes from Beaver Creek, children as young as 3 can go on a private tour, and 5 and up are allowed on group tours. We loved exploring the mountain via snowmobile; it was beautiful.

Dining Options in Avon and Beaver Creek

There are lots of options for dining in Beaver Creek and Avon, with many family friendly options such as Blue Moose Pizza or Dusty Boot Roadhouse located in the village. Another great option is Northside Kitchen. They have an amazing selection of delicious donuts to choose from, they also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you are looking for a very unique experience, you can check out Zach’s Cabin or Allie’s Cabin. Located on the mountainside, you take an open air sleigh to reach the restaurants. Reservations are required and the menus are on the expensive side, but it is fun if you are looking for a rare treat.

Elizabeth Schnakenberg
Hi! I’m Elizabeth. I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and have been living in Colorado for almost 10 years. I met my husband in Denver and we have two wonderful daughters. My oldest is 6 and my youngest is 17 months. I am a former preschool teacher turned health insurance broker. I do my best to juggle kid activities, two kitties and our dog and everything in between. I love the outdoors and being close to the mountains. Our family is slowly checking visiting National Parks off our list and hoping to instill a love and respect for nature in our children. I enjoy reading, indulging in Italian food, spending time with friends and family and trying to improve my disc golf skills. I’m looking forward to connecting with more Colorado mamas!
